Your First Counselling Consultation | Vincent Akinnawo

Your first counselling consultation

Vincent Akinnawo, counsellor and psychotherapist

Taking the first step towards counselling can bring questions. I offer a free 30-minute initial consultation so we can discuss what brings you here, what you hope for and whether working together feels right.

You do not need to prepare a full account

You can start with a brief outline of what is happening. You do not need a diagnosis, a clear explanation of your feelings or every detail of a difficult experience before getting in touch.

Questions you can bring

  • How might your counselling approach fit what I need?
  • What would happen in a typical session?
  • Would meeting in person or online suit my circumstances?
  • What are your current appointment times and cancellation arrangements?
  • How does confidentiality work, and what are its limits?

The consultation gives us time to explore these questions and consider next steps.

Location, session length and fees

I offer counselling and psychotherapy at Kent Well-being Hub in Gillingham, Medway, and online. Sessions cost £70 for 50 minutes. You can read more about my counselling approach, online counselling and the practice location and fees.

What happens after the consultation?

If we decide to work together, we agree whether to meet in Gillingham or online and discuss session frequency and appointment times. We can discuss a block of sessions or open-ended work, depending on your needs. You can use the consultation to ask questions before deciding on the next step.
