Trauma counselling in Medway

Space to talk about difficult experiences, at your pace.

You decide where we begin

Difficult experiences can leave you unsure how to talk about what has happened or how it affects you now. You do not have to share every detail in an initial conversation.

I’m Vincent Akinnawo, a BACP-accredited integrative counsellor and psychotherapist. We can begin with what you need in the present: how you are feeling, what helps you feel more settled and what you hope for from counselling. We will discuss your needs and whether my approach is a suitable fit.

Starting with safety and coping

We begin with present-day safety and coping: what is difficult now, what helps you feel more settled and what support you need. When you feel ready, we can explore past experiences and how they affect relationships, self-belief and daily life. You do not need to retell everything at once. We will agree the pace together, and you can ask to pause or change the focus.

Before ongoing work, we will discuss confidentiality and its limits, including serious safety concerns and legal obligations. We agree session frequency individually and review the work together. The initial consultation is also a chance to ask about my experience and discuss whether my way of working matches the support you need.

I work with children, young people and adults and am currently accepting new clients. Please contact me to discuss suitability. At least 24 hours’ notice is needed to cancel or change an appointment; late cancellations and missed appointments incur the full £70 session fee.

Sessions are available at Kent Well-being Hub in Gillingham, Medway, and online. A 50-minute session costs £70. A free 30-minute initial consultation lets us discuss your circumstances and next steps. Call 07759 737823 or use the contact link above.
